Panchthar district is
a Hill district of Mechi Zone in Nepal's Eastern Development Region. The
district covers 1,241 km2 (479 sq mi). The 2011 census counted
191,817 population. Phidim is the district headquarters. Panchthar's majority
population is that of Kirantis (Limbu, Rais) and other ethnic groups and hill
castes.
